Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! We wanted to share the general timeline for when your degree may be conferred and you could receive your digital and print diplomas.
All communications regarding degree conferral, awarding of minors or certificates, and diplomas will be sent to the email address included on your degree application. Please note: Not all degrees are conferred at the same time. Conferral may vary by college and within colleges.
Aug. 7, 2024
- Summer 2024 grades are due and added to students’ records.
Aug. 8–Aug. 31, 2024
- Summer 2024 degree candidates are reviewed for eligibility to graduate.
- All transfer coursework and grades for Incompletes must be on your record by August 31, 2024, for your degree to be conferred.
Aug.14–Aug. 31, 2024
- Degrees are conferred and degree notations will appear on your official transcript with August 2, 2024, as the conferral date. You will receive an email when your degree is conferred.
Aug. 26, 2024
- First Day of fall 2024 classes.
Sept. 2, 2024
- University Holiday, Office Closed - Labor Day
Sept. 3–Sept. 6, 2024
- Digital and print diplomas are available for students whose degrees are conferred by August 14, 2024. You will receive an email when your digital diploma is released, and a second email when your printed diploma is shipped.
Sept. 16–Sept. 20, 2024
- Digital and print diplomas are available for students whose degrees are conferred between August 15, 2024 and August 31, 2024. You will receive an email when your digital diploma is released, and a second email when your printed diploma is shipped.
Downloading Digital Credentials
You will receive an email with a link to download your credential when it is available from our trusted partner, CeCredential Trust. Be sure to download and save your credential as this link will expire in 14 days.
Diploma Covers
Diploma covers are not mailed with diplomas. Please contact the commencement coordinator for your college to find out if they will provide diploma covers for their graduates. If your college is not providing covers, you may purchase one at the Iowa Hawk Shop and University Bookstore located on the lower level of the Iowa Memorial Union. Diploma covers are not available online at this time.
