Considering a Certificate?

Certificate in Jewish Studies: Interdisciplinary, International, and Inquisitive!

Jewish Studies introduces students to Jewish culture, history, politics, and religion ... from the Bible to the present day; from bagels to Baghdad.

You’ll learn to see beyond stereotypes and clickbait, and will develop your skills in thinking about the complexities of life in a diverse society. You’ll improve your understanding of human rights, religious texts, questions of identity, connections across cultures, and the historical and structural bases of inequality.

Take a course or two — or complete the certificate, a terrific credential for a range of graduate programs and careers.

An off-cycle offering from Magid

The Magid Center for Writing offers an exciting 1 s.h. off-cycle course opportunity this fall, WRIT:1325, Iowa Writers’ Room: The Big Binge, with TV writer and showrunner Gina Welch. From October 21-25, Welch will screen the entirety of her critically acclaimed miniseries Clipped, which follows the downfall of former NBA owner Donald Sterling and the Los Angeles Clippers drive to win a championship under their new coach Doc Rivers. Along the way, Welch will discuss with students what is involved in conceptualizing, writing, producing, and releasing a television series.

FAFSA delays

The Office of Student Financial Aid shares that the 2025-26 FAFSA has been delayed and will not open for students to complete for next year until December 1, 2024. The government is still working on getting everything ready after the delays we experienced last year.

The deadline for maximum aid consideration at the University of Iowa is February 1, 2025, the recommendation is that students file their FAFSA by that date if possible.  More information about this is on their website.
