History News for Undergraduates

History Writing Center Workshops begin

New this semester!

Be sure to take advantage of our new Writing Workshop Series this fall. Our first topic is primary and secondary sources. This topic is offered twice—choose the time that works best for you!

Tuesday, October 3, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. or Wednesday, October 4, 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.

SH 61

What's in it for you?

  • We’ll cover what a primary source is and how to interpret multiple types of sources, including written, musical, and artistic.
  • You’ll gain skills in reading secondary sources (such as textbooks), especially how to get the most out of these texts on first reading.
  • This workshop will be interactive and give you hands-on experience with understanding sources that you may encounter in classes.

Stay tuned for information on future topics! The Writing Workshop Series is led by graduate students in the History Department.
