I am pleased to announce that the Office of the Provost is accepting nominations for the 2023 University of Iowa Distinguished Chair awards.
The UI Distinguished Chair is one of the highest awards bestowed on Iowa faculty, recognizing and rewarding exceptional UI scholars of national and international distinction for their outstanding achievements in scholarship, teaching, and service.
The Office of the Provost provides each recipient with one-time funding of $250,000, disbursed in $50,000 increments annually over the five-year appointment. All full-time tenured full professors are eligible. It is anticipated that two chairs will be awarded each year.
The recipients will be announced by the end of the spring semester, with their appointment taking effect at the beginning of the academic year. The title of "University of Iowa Distinguished Chair" will be held for as long as the awardee remains a faculty member in good standing at the University of Iowa.
