The Veterans Closet provides free business and professional attire and complimentary items to our students in the VMC. The Veterans Closet is located next to the IVETS Student Lounge in 214 Calvin Hall. Stop by to peruse what we have! In addition to clothing, you’ll find hygiene products and business accessories, like bags. It’s an open closet. Take what you need; just let our front desk folks know when we’re running low on something. If you’d like to donate items, please do! You can leave donated items at the 207 front desk.

Family Friendly Room 214 Calvin Hall

Family-Friendly Room

When you need to bring your kid with you to print something or study, hang out in our family-friendly room. Located off the student lounge in 214 Calvin Hall, the family-friendly room features a university computer, access to a printer in the lounge, a soft play surface for little hands and feet, books, toys (like Magnatiles), a chair swing, and kids’ Amazon tablets to check out. Benefits

Work Study Opportunity

Are you receiving federal or state education benefits for military service and enrolled at least 9 s.h. for the summer session? You might be eligible to work in our office through the VA Work Study program. If you’re interested, contact Chelsea Burk (chelsea-burk@uiowa.edu) with your resume, customer service experience, and summer availability.

Veterans Worksheet

Using federal tuition benefits this semester, including GI Bill, Federal Tuition Assistance, and INGSS? Fill out the Veterans Worksheet (scroll past the picture, button on the right). If you aren’t sure whether you’ve completed this document, email registrar-vets-office@uiowa.edu.

Verification for Ch. 33 benefits to begin this semester

Starting this fall, the VA will require those receiving Ch. 33 benefits (Post-9/11 GI Bill) to verify they are still enrolled as students each month. We have yet to receive future guidance on this, but will send out information as soon as we know more. Keep an eye out in your email from correspondence from VA abut this, too.
