Winter Break Digest for Epi Students

Have a fantastic break! See you in the new year!

Greetings, Epi. Students!

As we are wrapping up the semester, please know that the faculty and staff in the Department of Epidemiology are incredibly proud of all of the hard work you have put into this semester. Your dedication to your academic studies, your research, your future careers, and your peers is refreshing and inspiring, and we are all excited to head into 2024 with the momentum that you have generated during the first half of this academic year.

Now that we’ve reached winter break in the academic calendar, we hope that you take the time to restore, relax, and recharge! Taking time off and finding some rest and calm is not only essential for our health, but an extremely important component of your graduate studies. Take advantage of this next month off if you can.

We do realize that, in addition to time off/time away, many students do find that winter break and the upcoming new year offers some protected time to do some quality reflection and to evaluate how progress to personal and professional goals might be coming along. If you are one of those students and are looking for some effective and simple ways that you can utilize your time during the break to work on professional or career planning, deepen your skills, explore potential paths after graduation, gain experience in a public health setting, or connect with others that share similar interests, you might check out some of the featured tools below during your time away.

Finally, congratulations to our graduates this semester! Please make sure to reach out to our fall grads with well wishes.

  • Christian Johnson, PhD
  • Amy Ogilvie, PhD
  • Abdulmahmoud Alwali, MPH
  • Haitham Osman, MPH
  • Adeyinka Taiwo, MS Clinical Investigation

Enjoy the time off. Please reach out if there’s anything you need. We are here for you!

Best,

Megan
